Job Description:

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join the Research and Development team at one of the world’s leading manufacturers of guitar amplifiers and effects units.

The role is based at their office in Northampton, working Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with additional hours when required and occasional travel to the Far East.

The salary is very much dependent on experience but will be in the region of 35,000 - 50,000 per annum.

The successful candidate will receive 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and after 2years service an extra day per year can be accrued up to a maximum of 30 days.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks of the role include –
* Research new technology
* Responsible for the electronic design of new products, from brief design to product in the warehouse.
* Generate product schematics from a given product design brief
* Produce PCB Layouts from schematics in accordance with International EMC and Safety Approval Standards.
* Project Manage projects as and when required communicating with colleagues in the Far East and the rest of the team in the UK.
* Produce and approve engineering documentation and component requirements for designs.
* Update the Research and Development team daily and provide reports as and when required.
* Introduce improvements into the production process.
* Attend and lead project meetings.
* Create and communicate any new processes required or amendments to existing processes that are found to be necessary.
* Support the Operations department as and when required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications –
* Degree in electronics
* Proven experience with designing products
* Good experience and knowledge of hardware design
* Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics
* Organised and innovative
* Good communications skills
* Minimum 2 years commercial design experience
* Experienced in fault finding and diagnostics to a component level
* Proficient in the use of software packages for designing schematic diagrams and PCB’s with high speed design experience
* Good understanding of a detailed full-system design environment with appropriate documentation
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills
* Experience in designing audio hardware
* Project management experience
* Team player
