Job Description:

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a global leader in engineering, modular fabrication, and construction of beverage can making and industrial plant facilities.

Salary - 42,000 - 58,000 dependent on experience
Full Time – Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, some weekend work may be required
Location – Northampton with regular travel to offices in USA

The Mechanical Engineer will assist with design and engineering of facility mechanical systems and develop skills necessary to perform as lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.

* Detailed piping design including routing, sizing, materials selection and pipe supports.
* Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) for facility mechanical systems.
* Design process ductwork systems.
* Evaluation and/or specification of mechanical process systems support equipment.
* Evaluation of process equipment general arrangements and utility requirements.
* Drive development of drawing packages for fabrication, bid and installation.
* Coordination of vendor provided conveyor systems with process equipment.
* Coordinate material take-offs for purchase of all materials required for fabrication and installation of provided pre-fabricated systems.
* Coordinate with project Electrical Engineers to facilitate design of power distribution systems, power panels and control panels.
* Coordinate with fabrication facility on all pre-fabricated and unitised system design.
* Utilize AutoCAD for systems design and development of drawing packages.
* Perform calculations required to ensure safe, correct and economical designs.
* Provide direction and assistance to Designers and Drafters.
* Prepare Request for Quotations and solicit bids for equipment, systems and components.
* Travel domestically and internationally 10-30% per year and up to four (4) weeks duration.
* Safely commute between St. Louis, MO Headquarters and Red Bud, IL as needed.
* Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organisation’s goals.

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
* Zero (0) to Three (3) years of experience in mechanical / project engineering is required.
* AutoCAD and drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferred.
* Experience developing drawings for fabrication of piping systems is preferred.
* Experience with selection and specification of pumps, support equipment and/or HVAC equipment is preferred.
* Knowledge of typical piping and piping component materials and appropriate applications.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.
* EIT registration is preferred.
* Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required.
* Ability to work flexible hours and some weekend work may be required.
* Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
* Must have a valid driver’s licence.
* Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
* Must comply with clients’ core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintain sound relationships among and with employees.

Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions are possible for short period time—such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures. Must be able to travel to job sites both domestically and internationally; living accommodations in some foreign assignments may not meet expected U.S. standards. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.
