Job Title: HSEQ Manager
Location: Leicester
Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 per year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Reports To: Head of Operations
Direct Reports:
• H&S Officer
• Quality Engineer
• Quality Coordinator
• ESG Lead

Role Purpose

The HSEQ Manager will lead and shape the health, safety, environmental and quality strategies across the business. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement and a strong safety culture throughout operations. The role is key in driving performance, maintaining regulatory standards and supporting ongoing improvements in customer quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Develop and deliver a long-term HSEQ strategy aligned with business objectives and compliance requirements

  • Integrate HSEQ priorities into operational planning with senior leadership

  • Lead the development and maintenance of management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

Communication and Engagement

  • Implement HSEQ communication plans including toolbox talks, management briefs and performance dashboards

  • Deliver training, workshops and site engagement to build a proactive safety-first culture

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Oversee regulatory compliance and ensure best practice is followed

  • Lead risk assessments including general risk, manual handling, COSHH and fire

  • Manage occupational hygiene assessments for noise, lighting, exposure and workplace conditions

Incident Management and Investigation

  • Lead investigations into accidents, near misses and unsafe acts

  • Produce root cause analysis and corrective action plans

Audits and Inspections

  • Plan and conduct internal audits, inspections, fire drills and HSEQ reviews

  • Prepare for external audits including certification and recertification

Regulatory and Major Hazard Management

  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise on controls and improvements

  • Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies

Training and Capability Building

  • Work with HR to deliver induction and refresher HSEQ training

  • Mentor and develop direct reports and wider HSEQ personnel

Sustainability and ESG

  • Partner with the ESG Lead to support emissions reduction, waste initiatives and broader sustainability goals

  • Contribute to ESG reporting and continuous improvement activity

Management and Reporting

  • Define and monitor HSEQ KPIs and performance metrics for leadership review

  • Support investment cases for HSEQ-related equipment, systems and training

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a data-driven approach to improvement

  • Benchmark performance internally and externally to drive operational excellence

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent

  • Experience managing HSEQ systems including ISO standards

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Excellent project management and organisational capability

  • Strong communication skills and confidence delivering training

  • Able to perform in fast-paced and high-risk environments

Desirable

  • Chartered status or working towards (e.g. CMIOSH)

  • Experience in highly regulated technical sectors such as aerospace, marine or motorsport

  • Lead auditor experience for ISO standards
