Multi-trade Tradesperson / Property Maintenance Tradesperson

Location: Bedford  
Type: Permanent
Salary: £30 – 35 000.00 per annum

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: Monday to Friday (08h00 – 18h00 with occasional weekend work for emergencies only)


Job Description:

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Property Maintenance Tradesperson to carry out general repairs and multi-trade maintenance across a portfolio of residential rental properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring properties are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with relevant standards, delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent service to tenants and landlords.


Duties and Responsibilities:

· Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repairs across residential properties.

· Perform multi-trade work including basic plumbing, carpentry, plastering, painting and decorating, tiling, and minor electrical repairs.

· Diagnose faults and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

· Prepare properties between tenancies (void property works).

· Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks.

· Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations.

· Liaise professionally with tenants, landlords, and property managers.

· Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.

· Identify and report any major works required.

· Work to scope of work at each property.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property maintenance or multi-trade roles.
  • Competence in multiple trades (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, decorating, basic electrics, plastering and tiling).
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Clear DBS check.
  • Relevant trade qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Basic electrical or plumbing certification.
  • Health and Safety training (e.g. CSCS card).
  • Experience working within rental or lettings environments.
  • Advantage given to those worked in social housing previously.
