Job description

About the role

Job title: Warehouse Administrator
Contract: Temporary (with potential to go perm)
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Hours - Monday to Friday 10am-6pm OR 12pm-8pm
Location: Peterborough (Ortons)

IMMEDIATE START

Step into the world of logistics with our dynamic and busy Client.
As a Warehouse Administrator,  you’re the glue that holds the operation together behind the scenes.
While the warehouse team handles the physical movement of goods, you're the one keeping things organized, accurate, and moving forward from a systems and paperwork perspective.

Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:
Administration Meets Operations
• You’ll be working closely with warehouse supervisors and team leads to make sure all incoming and outgoing shipments are accurately logged in the system.
• When goods arrive or leave, you'll handle the paperwork, update records, and double-check the data to make sure it all matches.
• Expect to be the go-to person for delivery notes, manifests, system updates, and general coordination between the floor and the office.
System Work That Keeps Things Running
• You’ll spend a lot of time using warehouse management systems (WMS), scanning in items, updating inventory, and making sure stock levels are current and correct.
• If there's a mismatch – maybe the system says 10 pallets are in stock but only 8 are physically there – you’ll help investigate and fix it.
• You’ll generate reports when needed, track shipments, and help with inventory checks and cycle counts.
Communication Is Key
• Whether it’s chatting with drivers, updating customers, calling transport partners, or emailing other departments, you'll be the link that keeps everyone in the loop.
• You’ll also be answering questions from the warehouse team about orders, stock, or where certain items are in the system.
A Bit of Problem-Solving
• Things don’t always go as planned – a shipment might arrive early, late, or not at all. You'll help manage those hiccups calmly and professionally.
• Your eye for detail means you’ll spot discrepancies quickly and take steps to sort them out before they become bigger issues.

What Helps You Succeed
• You will be available asap and able to commit to a long-term temp role
• You have an eye for detail and pride yourself on accuracy
• Your CV shows that you are not a job-hopper and have longevity in service with previous employers (unless you have been temping!)
• You’re organised, calm under pressure, and good with numbers.
• You’re confident using systems and can pick up new tools quickly.
• A background in warehousing or logistics admin is a plus, but if you’re a fast learner with the right attitude, you’ll do just fine.
• Communication is your thing – whether it’s spoken or written, you’re clear, friendly, and professional.

What You Might Not Like
• It can get repetitive. Some days, it’s a lot of data entry, checking stock levels, and updating records. If you need constant variety, this might wear on you.
• You’re the safety net. If there's a system or stock issue, people will come to you – even if it’s not technically “your fault.” You’ll need a thick skin and a solution-first mindset.
• It’s a warehouse environment. You won’t always be at a quiet desk. There’s noise, hustle, and sometimes last-minute pressure to meet tight shipping deadlines.
• Some tasks feel thankless. When everything goes right, no one notices – but if something’s off, all eyes are on the admin. It comes with the territory.
• You're in between teams. You’ll be balancing expectations from the floor, office, and transport teams – and sometimes they don’t all agree.
• The team are close knit.  Your team is friendly, yet professional, outgoing, yet focused on work, and they all love cake!  If you don’t have a sweet tooth or are not a foodie this might not be for you!
