Salary: £33 000.00 p/a
Start Date: Immediately

Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description:

 

As the Warehouse Supervisor, you are responsible for ensuring warehouse operations are performed to the highest quality and safety standards. You will manage personnel, processes, and facilities to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant handling of products. This role includes workforce planning, performance management, health & safety leadership, and continuous improvement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations & Process Management

  • Ensure warehouse operations comply with quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee all aspects of warehouse processes including inventory, loading, storage, labeling, and equipment usage.
  • Maintain workflow efficiency by following FIFO and lean warehouse practices.
  • Ensure accurate and timely order picking, packing, and dispatching.
  • Monitor IT and warehouse equipment to ensure full functionality.

Health & Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Ensure premises and equipment are properly maintained, and staff are trained in safety procedures.
  • Conduct site inductions and manage SOP documentation and sign-off.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and support warehouse staff, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback.
  • Lead regular team meetings to discuss quality, output, and resourcing.
  • Coordinate holidays, maintain attendance and sickness records, and manage timekeeping.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and handle employee relations in collaboration with HR.
  • Train new staff and cross-train team members transitioning roles.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Act as the point of contact for customer queries, complaints, and problem resolution.
  • Attend regular client management meetings to provide performance updates and resource planning insights.
  • Communicate job expectations clearly and support team in achieving performance goals.

KPI & Reporting

  • Measure, track, and report on warehouse KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Provide reports and analysis to leadership on performance, issues, and improvements.
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose or implement process enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with other departments to align warehouse activities with broader logistics and supply chain goals.
  • Participate in innovation initiatives to optimize warehouse operations.

Requirements:

Essential Education & Training

  • 3–5 years of warehouse/distribution center experience.
  • 2–3 years in a supervisory role (preferred).
  • GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (Grades A–C).
  • Bachelor's degree (BA or MSc) is an advantage.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

  • Familiarity with warehouse and labor management systems.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Previous experience managing large-scale operations and teams.
  • Skilled in handling employee relations.
  • Experience in logistics or similar environments.

Technical / Functional Skills

  • Medium-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Fire Warden Trained.
